I’m Azhar, and hotels fascinate me.
Everything about hotels fascinates me. How they operate, their economics, the systems that make or break profitability. I’ve spent over a decade studying this industry and working with properties at different stages.
I started my journey with Flora Airport Hotel Kochi. I joined during the project stage and worked my way up to the management team, learning across sales, operations, HR, finance, and revenue management. Every department, every problem, every late night crisis. I also spent time working with Flora Hospitality‘s UAE team to understand how larger hotel groups manage their properties. Flora gave me the foundation to understand what makes hotels work and what breaks them.
In 2016, I left my role at Flora to build Zarnik, a hospitality supplies company—one supplier for everything hotels need with nationwide delivery. More recently, I built Portico Webworks, which gives mid-scale and upper mid-scale hotels professional digital presence.
I also consult for hotels, one project a year on pre-openings or repositioning. The consulting keeps me connected to what hotel owners actually face and validates what we’re solving at Zarnik.
I have no hospitality degree and limited hands-on operational experience. What I have is over a decade in the industry understanding every moving part of how hotels actually work and the willingness to build solutions when I see problems. And I’m not stopping here.
I share my thinking on hospitality, business, and building on this website.
